Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers understand a region through its landscapes, boundaries, place names, settlements or routes. Send proposals through the Contact page, with the reason for writing set to an editorial question.
What makes a strong pitch
Start with one clear question and explain why it matters to a curious general reader. A useful pitch names the place or regional feature at its centre, gives a brief account of the approach and shows what readers will be able to notice or understand by the end.
Keep the scope clear
We favour focused, evergreen subjects that can be explained without specialist jargon or claims that depend on unverified local detail. Say what sources or materials the piece would draw on, and flag any uncertainty or limits that could affect the account.
How to send it
Use the Contact page to send a short proposal, a working title and a few lines on your approach. Unsolicited completed articles are not required for a pitch. Please include only information you are comfortable sharing through the form.
A region is more than a label on a map.
Its character comes into view through its landscape, names, boundaries and connections. We take those details one at a time.
